Create a new layer by default the canvas have no change if you create a new layer but in the layer palette a new layer 1 is appear see below.

In the next step the newly created layer is totally blank without color of it so fill some color of it by going Edit>> Fill the Fill dialog box appear in the Use drop down list choose the black color in this drop down list i will choose the color to fill .

Next add some Noise ( Amount: 160 ) Distribution to Gaussian and check the monochromatic.

It will add the noise to our newly created layer black and white only see below.

Add a little blur of it by going Filter>> Blur>> Gaussian Blur the dialog box appear set its radius to (1.0) hit ok to apply it.

The next step is to highlight the white spots in this case on your keyboard hit ( Ctrl + L ) to bring up the Levels Dialog box bring right and left slider to inward like shown below to clearing the whiteness of our snow.

Change the blending mode of (Layer1) to Screen it will totally disappearing the pure black only display the white area it is now like a realistic snow.

Now add some angle to the snow falling for this purposes add the Motion Blur of it about angle ( 61 ) lower the distance ( 5 ) .

Now duplicate the upper layer add once more time Motion blur of it like the setting below.

Finally merge down the layer see picture below Shortcut ( Ctrl + E ).

Final is here.

Add lip gloss in Photoshop

In this Photoshop tutorial you will learn how to add lip gloss to an image. This process uses the Quick mask and the plastic wrap filter.

Step 1
Open an image in Photoshop you wish to add lip gloss to.

Step 2
Select the Quick mask tool (Q) and make a selection around the area where you don’t want to add lip gloss. This selection would be most of the image as shown below. Before you begin make sure you have reset the colour palette by pressing the ‘D’ as you will not see the Quick mask.

Step 3
Exit the Quick mask (Q) and you should get a selection around the lip like below. If you are unhappy the selection you can re-enter the Quick mask and make adjustments.

Step 4
Choose Select > Feather and give the feather radius of 5 pixels. This creates a more rounded selection around the lips. You can experiment with the feather radius as this might be different for your image.

Step 5
Select Filter > Artistic > Plastic Wrap and add the following settings:

Highlights Strength = 7
Detail = 5
Smoothness = 8

If you want a more defined gloss effect on the lips you can try increasing the Plastic wrap settings. You should now have lips with lip gloss.

Multicoloured iris in Photoshop

In this tutorial you will learn how to add a multicoloured iris effect to an image in Photoshop. This effect uses the gradient and quick mask tool to create the multicoloured iris.

Multicoloured iris in Photoshop

Step 1
Open an image in Photoshop that contain eyes and duplicate the layer by selecting Ctrl + J.

Step 2
Make a selection around the eye using either with the quick mask tool or the pen tool.

Step 3
Desaturate the selection by selecting Image > Adjustments > Desaturate and insert a new layer Ctrl + Shift + N.

Step 4
Select the gradient tool with any coloured gradient you choose. I have selected the rainbow gradient. Make sure you also select the ‘Angle gradient’ option as shown below.

Step 5
Drag a gradient within the selection of the eye like below. If you are unhappy with your gradient you can undo the selection and reapply the gradient.

Step 6
Deselect the selection around the eye Ctrl + D, and then change the blending option of the layer to ‘Overlay’. You can experiment with the various settings if you wish. If the colour of the overlay is too intense you can add a Gaussian blur by selecting Filter > Blur > Gaussian blur.

You should now have a multicoloured iris in Photoshop.

Create an incredible Hulk look

In this Photoshop tutorial you will learn how to create an incredible Hulk look using the brush tool and the blending options. This effect is quick and dirty and should only take you about five minutes to complete.

Create an incredible Hulk look

Step 1
Open an image in Photoshop. Use an image that has some skins exposed.

Step 2
Create a new layer by selecting Ctrl + Shift + N.

Step 3
Select the brush tool with an appropriate brush size and colour. I have used #0a8456 colour, but you can use whatever colour you like. Now paint over the areas of the skins like below. You don’t have to be too tidy with the brush tool as the mistakes can be taken care later on.

Step 4
Change the blending option to Hard Light. The select the eraser tool and fix any mistakes from the previous step. You should now have a hulk appearance like below.

Gradient styles

There are actually five different gradient styles to choose from which are: Linear gradient, Radial gradient, Angle gradient, Reflected gradient, and Diamond gradient. The different gradient styles are shown in the diagram below accordingly:

Linear gradient
Starts from one point to another in a straight line.

Radial gradient
Starts from one point to another in a circular pattern. The first point is the centre of the gradient.

Angle gradient
Starts in an anti-clockwise around the starting point. The size of gradient you drag marks the direction of the colour.

Reflected gradient
This gives a gradient from both sides the starting point, so you should get three stripes of colour with two colours being the same.

Diamond gradient
This gives a diamond shaped gradient.

You can also choose the blending mode and opacity for each gradient. The reverse can be checked which reverses the order of the gradient. You can create a smoother blend by selecting the Dither. And finally set a transparent mask by checking the transparency option.

The Gradient Editor

The gradient editor is the panel where you create your custom or preset gradient. There are two ways to open up the gradient editor. Firstly, with the gradient tool selected you can right click on the canvas, and the editor will open up. Or you can left click on the gradient drop down menu on the options bar. The following gradient editor window will show up.

This is the list of default preset gradients. You can change the preview of the presets to: text, thumbnails or lists which displays the presets into a different format.
This creates a new preset gradient. The new preset will appear in the gradient preview.
This allows you to change the gradient from solid to noise. The noise gradient contains random colours from a specified range.
This is the colour sliders, notice there are two sets of sliders: the top two and the bottom two. The top two are the transparency sliders you can change opacities of each of the sliders. To create another transparency stopper you can click anywhere in between the two stoppers. The bottom two stoppers allow you to change the colours. Dragging the stoppers blends the colours together and clicking in between the two stoppers creates a new colour stopper.

Metal texture effect

In this tutorial you will learn how to create a metal texture effect. You will need to use various filters for this texture effect.

Metal texture effect

Step 1
Open a Photoshop document with 640 x 480 dimensions.
Choose a grey foreground colour then select the paint bucket fill the canvas with your colour. I have used #787878 colour for my metal texture.

Step 2
Add some noise to the canvas by selecting Filter > Noise > Add Noiseand add the following settings.
Amount = 17%
Distrubution = Uniform
Monochromatic = Checked

You should get the following:

Step 3
Select Filter > Blur > Motion Blur and add the following settings.
Angle = 57
Distance = 15 pixels

You should now have a metal texture effect. If you don’t like the brightness of your texture you can adjust it by selecting Image > Adjustment > Hue/Saturation and adjust the lightness slider.
